Capstone Ideas
1) My main idea and main focus is to create an advertising campaign that incorporates probably 2-3 mediums. These mediums will probably be a website, print, and/or a video. I would love ideas on what the subject of my advertising to be, either to make up a business or product or to stick with something real. With this showcase I'd like to display my skills to get a job at an Advertising and PR firm somewhere in the city. My main inspiration for this was Hirons&Company located on New York Street. www.hirons.com
2) My second idea is to create a short documentary on an influential topic that is locally based. Although I have been brainstorming I have had no great revelation as to what the topic will be. I will probably use one of the two other ideas. I am inspired to do a documentary more so than a film because of Professor Edgar's influence in his documentary class.
3) I could also just focus on promoting my cousin's professional photography business. They're only means of promotion is through Facebook, so I could create a website with a gallery and post video blogs of their interviews to promote their business. They already have a lot of material to shift through and organize so this project would take a lot of work. They also live in Illinois which could create some scheduling and time problems. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lewis-Sisters-Photography/166869120007757

What is a capstone?
To me, a capstone is a professional form of self-expression. Not only do students of the School of Informatics have to complete one, other students from different majors have to as well. It's a way of showing all the skills you learned to your future employers.
I think it's great the school requires us to complete one, even as intimidating as they are. They're not giving us any limitations or requirements, they're just letting us take our future in our hands and teaching us how to end school with hopefully a great opportunity to start a career. I don't view this as a hoop at all; I view it as a kick start.
